Narrative of the life of Fredrick Douglass, An American Slave Review

Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave is about a slave named Frederick, who actually wrote this book himself. He talks about the trials of being a slave, and how horrible it was, for it was horrible. According to my opinion, the book is disturbing and not suited for kids in it's vivid description about horrid things that happened while he was slave. Many slaves were killed in this narrative and many more that he didn't even know. It shows how bad slavery was, so I really think people need to read this book, but once they are at the appropriate age. But, other than that, it was a good book, and I encourage you to read it.

So Quiet...

It seems so quiet here, in my house, right now. As you may have heard (or may NOT have heard), my TV is busted. The thunderstorm that happened a while back did something to our TV and now it's not getting any picture which means 1. No Cable 2. No DVDS 3. No Wii. Two words: Help me.

Sure, I got the computer still, but most of the time the TV is usually on when I'm on the computer. Whether I'm watching it or Leslie and my parents are, it's usually on. Now, with it off and all, it seems so quiet.

We called a TV guy, might be three WEEKS till we get our TV fixed. (So much for the FOCUS Players DVD Party...). Apparently the part that is not working is nearly NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. That only happens to me.

Maybe it's for the better. Maybe God wants to show me that life isn't about TVs. Maybe once the TV turns on again it'll seem like a distraction rather than entertainment. I don't know. But as for right now, there were new episodes on Saturday and I haven't watched them yet. Let's just say, I'm about to die.

Choir Concert Part Two

It's the day after the choir concert. I'm not sure if any of you who read this post actually showed up or showed up but was GOING to show up anyways, but thank you for coming.

It went fairly well, although everybody says I did a good job but I know their lying. Beforehand though, I was really nervous, fretting over every little thing that could happen. Or couldn't happen but I was still worried about it.

It was a fun night, we had some big laughs and rehearsals were really fun. This is my last choir concert with the Homeschool Choir. As you all know, I am moving in two months so I won't be in the next concert, but I hope everyone who was with me in this concert will be in it in the fall, including more people if we could.

Thanks again - Eastin

Choir Concert!

First of all, I'd like to mention how choir is spelled. Who the heck decided how to spell choir? What about the spelling of the word makes you think of choir? It makes you think of a piano chord or something.

But anyways, on to the more important topic and as you can tell by my title, it's a choir concert. That's right. A choir concert. Not a chord concert, CHOIR! It's tonight (I know short notice) at 7:30 but the younger kids are performing first.

We are going to be singing eight songs. Sing a Mighty Song, Pie Jesu (which I will be doing the narration for), When I Survey (which I have a double duet in), Abide with Me, Promise Land (or is it promiseD land??) The Journey, The Lion Sleeps Tonight (which is our SHOW choir song), and God Be With You.

I'd LOVE if you can make it, but I know it's short notice. I just want to thank you for reading this post if you can't show up. But if you are planning to show up: 7:30 PM, Church by East Middle which I am ALWAYS forgetting the name of..., and beware, there is also a choir concert going on at East Middle during that time. - Eastin

New Job

I know what you're thinking. "Took you long enough to post about your dad's fancy schmancy new job". But here I am posting about it now! So my dad got a job. It's in San Antonio, Texas. Here are the  pros and coins about this job.

Pro: It is really warm there! According to my new phone it is 82 degrees there RIGHT NOW!

Con: We are moving there during the summer so it's going to be miserable hot!

Pro: My dad finally got a job!

Con: That means I'm moving.

Pro: This is the kind of job my dad has always wanted!

Con: The company sells tomatoes which I don't like

Pro: They have all sorts of restaurants in San Antonio!

Con: I'm probably going to get fat.

There's so many pros and cons that I'm not going to bore you with all of them! I really don't know what to think about all this!

If you guessed Temple Run 2 you would be correct! I am not writing this post to brag, no. I am just SO EXCITED! I got it for my birthday from my parents. Even they got a new phone! But dads was shipped from his job and was an iPhone five! (My sister is jealous even though SHE got a new phone too)

Talent Night

Talent Night is coming up for the FOCUS homeschoolers and I'm really excited. My friends and I are performing a play called "Cliffhanger". Their names are Grace and Pierce and I'm really excited because this is going to be the first time one of the performances I wrote is going to be performed live in front of an actual audience. (Geez, I hope they like it!). If you're like to come it's going to be held at Morningside Church, across from East Middle School. It'll start at 7:00 PM and is going to be held a week from today AKA 4/19/2013. Please come!
