Crispin: The Cross of Lead
Crispin: The Cross of Lead is the first book in a trilogy called Crispin. It is about a boy named Crispin, whose mother died, and his father already died earlier so he is now an orphan. During this sad time, he happens to go into the forest, where he accidentally witnesses a meeting that Aycliffe and another guy he doesn't know has. Then, Aycliffe sees him and tries to kill him. The next day, Crispin was declared a wolf's head, which means whoever finds him, can kill him, because Aycliffe said that Crispin stole from him, which is a lie. So, Crispin has to run away and try to escape from the grasp of Aycliffe and he meets some interesting people on the way, including a guy named Bear. To know the rest, you must read the book. I thought it was adventurous, mysterious and explained some things about history, for it takes place in 1377. I also thought it was a good book, and I recommend it to children who are learning about this time zone, or middle schoolers.
